A panel headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had recommended GR Sufi's name for appointment as the CIC Jan 27, but Governor NN Vohra had sent back the file saying that the CVC clearance be attached with it.

“Subsequently, the CVC's clearance was sought and it has been received,” an official said.

"The file would be sent back to the governor," he added.

With Sufi's appointment that may happen sometime next week, the process to set up the state information commission has begun in Jammu and Kashmir.
