Kashmir will soon gets its first business school with the setting up of a private international management college by Wigan & Leigh College (WLC) here in August.
WLC India Director Vinay Pasricha said at a press conference, “WLC will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Business Management, Advertising and Graphic Design, Media Studies and Fashion Technology.”
The first batch will begin in August and about 200 students are expected to enroll for the courses. WLC India, a part of UK’s Wigan & Leigh College will offer 50 per cent scholarship to 20 meritorious students.
Pasricha said the entrance examination — Wigan Aptitude Test — will be held in May, June and July. “WLC is being set up to bring professional education at par with international standards,” he said.
Pasricha said WLC will provide the same learning and job opportunities to students in Kashmir as is being done in other parts of the country. “This will enable students to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding to perform in a competitive global economy,” he added.
Pasricha said the college will offer an industry relevant course curriculum, training, faculty and tie-ups with universities across the world.
“Training is at the heart of our teaching methodology. We believe that learning must not only take place in the classroom,” he added.
