A native of nearby Panachikkad, Liju K Philip (33), an employee in the container ship "Laana", owned by Geneva-based private company MSC, fell into the sea on June 26 while on maintenance work, his family sources told PTI here on Monday.

The ship had set sail from Kuwait to Dubai on June 25.

The family members were informed by the ship crew that one of the employees saw Liju losing balance and falling into the sea.

The Iranian Navy along with Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre has launched a search operation after the Centre took up the matter with the Iranian Government, they said.
