Opposition leader Harak Singh Rawat alleged that the relatives of the CM have been appointed at various posts in government departments and it is being done on the behest of Khanduri.

"The CM kept me in dark while appointing Lokayukta even. He said the chief justice recommended the name of single person for the post. Later, I came to know that Khanduri had himself recommended the sole candidate - who is a close of the Chief Minister", Rawat said.

He alleged that the Chief Minister had an old habit of appointing his relatives to important posts. He has unnecessary put a burden on state exchequer by appointing his relatives as OSD or Advisor. But, this game of nepotism has now been exposed, he said. Uttarakhand CPI secretary Samar Bhandari said that the Chief Minister has been totally exposed during his two year rule in the state.

He acts just opposite to what he displays, Bhandari said.

He also alleged that Khanduri wanted to appoint his nephew as the vice-chancellor of Garhwal University. That's why he is bent on awarding IAS cadre to him so that there isn't any problem while appointing him to the post in future, he said.

Later on, other relatives of the Chief Minister will also be appointed to various posts in the university, he added.

Chief Minister's media adviser Devendra Bhasin has, however, refuted the charges saying all the appointments have been made in accordance with rules and regulations.
