Festivities during a marriage ceremony turned into a mourning after the bride's uncle was killed at Githauna village near Badaun.
Police said an inebriated youth, taking part the in the 'barat' on Thursday night, fired from a home-made gun killing the bride's uncle on the spot.
The marriage party left the scene along with the bride in a state of shock without performing the ceremony. Police later picked up the body and sent it for postmortem.
