Koli gets death in fifth Nithari case

In a fifth judgment related to the horrific Nithari serial killings of 2006, a special Central Bureau of Investigation court awarded death-penalty to prime accused Surinder Koli for the murder of a five-year-old girl.
Of the 19 FIRs filed in Nithari cases, CBI had filed chargesheets in 16. Till Monday's verdict, Koli was sentenced to death in the first four cases.
The special court awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment for attempted rape, life imprisonment for abduction and seven years of rigorous imprisonment for destruction of evidence.
The victim was last seen playing outside the house of Koli's employer Moninder Singh Pandher in Noida on June 4, 2005.
Her father had lodged a complaint with the local police after she went missing.
Eventually, Koli confessed that he had strangled her, put the body in a gunny sack and dumped it behind the house.
In his 76-page order, the special judge quoted American writer Lois Mcmaster Bujold as saying, "The dead cannot cry out for justice; it is a duty of the living to do so for them."
Pandher was not an accused in this murder case.
