Krishna hopes for Congress rule at Centre

Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna thanked the voters in Andhra Pradesh for voting Congress back to power and expressed confidence of his party returning to power in his state as well.

Expressing his happiness over the Congress party's thumping victory in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna on Tuesday expressed confidence that the party would come back to power at the Centre too.

"The Andhra Pradesh outcome is a clear indicator of the shape of things to come in the country's politics," Krishna, who was in Delhi, said in a statement here.

He thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh on behalf of the Congress in Karnataka for reposing faith in the party and for their solid support for the leadership of Sonia Gandhi.

He also met Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday in Delhi and explained the political scene in the state, Congress sources said.

During his meeting, the first after the elections to the Lok Sabha and the state assembly, Krishna told Gandhi that the Congress was confident of returning to power in Karnataka, the sources said.
