A home guard, who had created a world record crossing long distances hanging by his ponytail, died on Sunday while performing yet another daredevil act.
Sailendra Nath Roy, 47, died in front of hundreds while crossing 1200 ft across the Teesta river in Siliguri.
After crossed 1150 ft, Roy had got stuck. There was no arrangement to draw him to safety in case of an emergency. After struggling for nearly five minutes, he
fell unconscious and died before he could be rescued. Doctors said he had suffered a massive heart attack.
A resident of Siliguri, Roy had started lifting weights by his hair and moustache in 2001 after being inspired by a television programme.
