Buta resigned in the wake of the severe stricture against him by the Supreme Court in a state assembly dissolution case.

"By sending his resignation (after Supreme Court judgement) Buta Singh upheld a healthy tradition," Lalu said.

The RJD supremo said everybody should respect the apex court.

Lalu's comments came shortly after Buta Singh's announcement that he has sent his resignation to the President.
