Lalu clarifies ‘roller’ statement made against Varun Gandhi

Getting into quick damage control mode to avoid any trouble from the Election Commission, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Tuesday sought to clarify his controversial remarks made against BJP candidate Varun Gandhi. Clarifying that he meant ‘roller of law´ when he commented on Varun Gandhi’s hate speech against Muslims, Lalu tried to brush aside the incident by saying that it was taken out of context.

Clarifying that he meant ‘roller of law´ when he commented on Varun Gandhi’s hate speech against Muslims, Lalu tried to brush aside the incident by saying that it was taken out of context.

“What I meant was crushing him under the roller of law had I been the home minister,” Prasad said a day after stating in Kishanganj in Bihar that had he been the country’s home minister he would have crushed Varun Gandhi under a roller.

Addressing an election meeting in support of RJD candidate Ghuran Ram here, Prasad, however, did not spare a nice word for the BJP and said the ‘communal outfit´ is out to destroy the country’s social fabric.

“Advani can never become the Prime Minister. Mulayam Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan and I have joined hands to stop the communal forces from coming to power,” Lalu said in his five-minute speech.
