Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will teach Hindi and Bhojpuri to the two new members of his animal farm - a cow and a bull - so that they can understand him.
The pair, a gift from Vijayawada district board in Andhra Pradesh, reacts currently only to Telugu and English.
KN Rao Yadav, chairman of Vijayawada district board, gifted the pair of Ongole breed to Lalu Prasad. The animals are at present kept at Lalu Prasad's animal farm in Danapur, on the outskirts of the capital.
"I will teach them Hindi and Bhojpuri to understand us and adjust in the local environment. It will take some time because currently they only understand Telugu or some words of English," the minister said.
According to Rao, the bull belongs to Nandi clan, the mythological bull of Lord Shiva. "The bull was reared in the native village of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao," he said.
Rao said it was gifted to Lalu Prasad to bring good luck to him. "When I told Lalu Prasad during his visit to Andhra Pradesh early this month about the bull, he showed interest in it," he said.
Lalu Prasad and his wife, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi's love for cows and horse is well known. They used to keep nearly 200 cows in the specially designed shed in their previous official residence at 1 Anne Marg in Patna.
But earlier this year, when they were asked to vacate the residence following Rabri Devi's fall from power, the cows were shifted to Danapur.
