Lapses alleged in sale of KMC nomination forms
COMPLAINTS ABOUT the sale of nomination forms for the corporation elections are being reported at the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC). The counter clerk is selling forms for more than the stipulated price and even the peon assigned the job of putting the official seal on the form is charging additional fee for it.

The counter clerk is selling forms for more than the stipulated price and even the peon assigned the job of putting the official seal on the form is charging additional fee for it.
According to sources, the counter clerk, who is issuing forms, and the touts working for him are charging Rs 20 extra for each form. Allegations are also leveled against the peon for charging Rs 5 for putting the official seal. The matter has been reported to Additional Municipal Commissioner (I) R Vikram Singh.
Taking a serious note, Singh directed Chief Accounts and Finance Officer PN Singh to look into the matter and also asked him to replace the clerk immediately.
Nomination form for corporator is being sold at Rs 400 and for the reserved category candidates the form is available at Rs 200. While the nomination form for Mayor is available at Rs 1,000 and for the reserved category candidates the same is for Rs 500. Meanwhile, preparations at the KMC are in final stages for the nomination process, which is scheduled to start from Thursday. The authorities have prepared five gates for the purpose. Three gates have been erected for the corporator candidates and one for the Mayoral contestants while one for those coming to the KMC for obtaining the NOC. Control room in-charge Additional Municipal Commissioner (II) Uday Narain Tewari said that the gates had been constructed in such a manner so as to avoid confrontation between rival candidates, who will arrive here to file nominations. The filing of nominations will start from October 5 and continue till October 9.
Filing of nominations begins today
FOLLOWING DIRECTIVES of the State Election Commission, the filing of nominations for the Corporation elections will start from Thursday. All the proceedings related to the filing of nominations will take place at the main building of the KMC.
For the employees, special passes have been issued to facilitate their entry into the KMC campus. Gate number five has been assigned for the entry of employees and for those seeking NOC.
