Hinds tore ligaments in his right knee while fielding during Friday's fourth limited-overs international at Ahmedabad, putting him out of the seven-match series.

Hinds, who will need four to six weeks to heal, is expected to return home Tuesday, the West Indies Cricket Board said in a statement Monday.

"We have been struggling with injuries to our fast bowlers, and Jermaine (Lawson) is coming out to help cover us there," team manager Ricky Skerritt said in the statement.

Lawson, who returned to the Caribbean after the preceding three-Test series against India, played two limited-overs internationals for West Indies against Sri Lanka last year. The Antigua-based cricket board released no further information.
