The Judges came to the court at 10 am but soon retired to their chambers when a request was made on behalf of the leaders of the Bar communicating their decision that they were on strike.
Later, a general body meeting of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) was held and it was resolved that the agitation would continue. A fresh decision in connection with the strike would be taken at the general body meeting on Monday May 15, the resolution said.
Later, a meeting of HCBA, held in the Library Hall of HCBA, reiterated their demand for transfer of those judges of the High Court whose kin were practising. It was also resolved that a HCBA delegation, led by its president, would go to Delhi to meet appropriate authorities regarding their demands.
Besides, keeping in view the appointment of High Court judges in other high courts at the age of 39 and 40 years from amongst the members of the Bar, the HCBA unanimously resolved that the deserving and competent lawyers of this Court at the age of 39 and 40 years be recommended for appointment of HC judges of this High Court enabling proper representation of this court.
It was further resolved that considering the seriousness of the issue of transfer of High Court judges whose kin were practising in the same HC, a meeting to discuss this matter would be held in the HCBA library hall to chalk out a further course of action. Besides, it demanded that the chambers be allotted to lawyers forthwith.
The meeting was presided over by CL Pandey, president of HCBA and conducted by Manoj Kumar Mishra, joint secretary (administration).
