Lawyers should be just and fair

This conference is dedicated to the memory of Late Munshi Ambika Prasad, a renowned lawyer of Allahabad High Court and has been named as Late Munshi Ambika Prasad Lecture Series.

Emphasizing on the importance of law in the present day context, Justice Dr Laxmanan said, “Law is the necessity in the working of a civilized society.”

He said that judiciary worked on the assistance given by the Bar. Therefore, if there is a decline in the standard of the Bar, the same will happen in the Bench too. He urged the lawyers to be well read with regard to the latest developments in the legal field as “We are a nation of constitutional governance ruled by law.”

Guest of honour Justice RM Sahai, a former Judge of Supreme Court pointed out the importance of lawyers in the present socio-economic context.

Justice Pradeep Kant, a Judge of Lucknow Bench of High Court said that the role of lawyers was not confined to the courts alone, but also towards what was happening in the society. They have to play a great role in the welfare of the society, Justice Kant said.

Senior advocate Bharatji Agrawal, while narrating the inspiring parts of the life of Munshi Ambika Prasad, emphasised the role of lawyers in the courts as well as in the society.

Earlier, the guests were welcomed by Justice SN Srivastava, a High Court judge. The national president of Rule of Law Society, Justice Sudhir Narain, while narrating the objectives of the society said that 150 delegates from across the country have come here to participate in the two-day conference.

Convenor of the programme, Rajendra Kumar Srivastava, narrated the life-sketch of late Munshi Ambika Prasad, a noted lawyer of yesteryears.
