Presiding over the dharna, the district unit president of the party, Navneet Srivastav alleged that the cops were providing shelter to the miscreants who had opened fire on Vikrant and his fried Dhiraj Yadav under Shahpur police station. He said police failed to take any initiative to arrest the miscreants.

Srivastav further said that unidentified miscreants had abducted Sunita Devi wife of Amrit Lal a resident of Alinagar North but police did not take notice of the incident. He said sense of insecurity was increasing among the people over alleged impartial attitude of police force. Demanding immediate transfer of SSI Kotwali, Ram Nagina Rai, Srivastav blamed that Rai was hand-in-glove with the miscreant and abductor of Sunita Devi.

The activists demanded that if police would not arrest the miscreants in both case within a week, they would give a Gorakhpur bandh call.
