Apropos of Ravni Thakur’s article The great wall of India (August 23), whatever the Stalinist guidelines on foreign policy interests, the Left in India should learn from experience as also be faithful to national interests. They should neither repeat their mistakes of 1942 and 1962 nor should they engage in petty ideological posturing which has already been thrown to the winds by their mentor China in the 1970s. If the Left parties continue to practise ideological hypocrisy, they are bound to pay a heavy price whenever the next elections take place. They have been exposed to the public and have lost all sympathy.
