The reconstruction that completed in December 2003 cost around € 90.6 million. The newly constructed building has lighting integrated into its striking roof. Paying attention to spectator-safety, the stadium boasts of employing an innovative emergency evacuation system.

The older walls of Zentralstadion now act as an exterior boundary of the new ground. Bridges are used to connect both the parts of the stadium.
