Leonardo DiCaprio plans to come to India. Not for a film, though - the Hollywood superstar hopes to come to the country to champion the cause of tigers. In an exclusive interview to HT City, Leonardo said, “Yeah, I do have plans to travel to India to support the cause of tigers.”
That’s not his only association with India. “I have seen Lagaan and loved the film. It was fantastic,” says the actor who will next be seen in Inception, director by Christopher Nolan. “Also, Dileep Rao is an Indian origin actor who plays Yusuf in Inception — that’s my association with India,” he laughs.
In spite of his wide range of roles, Leo remains in the memory of every Indian fan as Jack from the cult film Titanic. Ask him if that bothers him and he replies, "No, not at all. As a matter of fact, I am delighted. Titanic released over a decade ago and I appreciate that Jack Dawson is still lingering in the audiences’ mind."
Talking about Inception, which releases next week, Leo says, “When I first heard the storyline I thought it was a freaky concept. After the narration, I was blown away!”
Like most celebs, Leo believes in the power of Twitter to support a cause. “Twitter is the new buzzing place and is both a convenient and an influential medium. See the number of people out there — that includes the President of the United States,” he says.
