Leopard enters Punjab school, seven injured
A leopard entered a Punjab school Monday morning and injured four children and three policemen before it was shot dead.
The wild cat created a panic when it walked into the complex of the Army Public School in Phillaur town in Jalandhar district. Everybody ran for their lives when the leopard was spotted at 9.15 a.m.
But it was not until one-and-a-half hours later that police and wildlife officials could corner the animal, suspected to have strayed into the town from the Shivalik foothills of Himachal Pradesh, 60 km away.
As they were unable to catch the leopard, the police shot it dead.
Officials said the leopard tried to attack at least one student.
The injured were rushed to hospital where they are reported to be out of danger.
Worried parents and others flocked to the school on the outskirts of the town as news spread.
