Following a proposal submitted by local corporator and MiC member Chandu Shinde, the Authority has decided to scale down the oversized existing rotary. The smaller rotary proposed by the IDA will boast a fountain as well as a green island and the project is estimated to cost around Rs 35 lakh.

Authority officials have also decided to relocate the police post adjoining Lifeline Hospital as part of the sprucing up exercise.

It may be recalled that motorists travelling to the Mill area or towards Vijay Nagar have often protested that the unnecessarily high LIG rotary blocks their vision and makes them blind to vehicular traffic coming at them.

Interestingly, the IDA omits to make any mention of the IMFL and country liquor vend located a little further on from the LIG Square whose inebriated patrons pose a far graver problem than the rotary.

In a separate move, IDA officials have invited tenders for building a rotary and pedestal at the intersection of MR 10-Ganda Talab to help streamline traffic. Four bids have been received for the project, which is expected to commence within a fortnight.
