Bihar’s delicacy ‘litti-chokha’ will now be served to train passengers at all railway stations in northern and eastern states following a directive from Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to his officials.Earlier , the Minister had introduced ‘mattha’ (buttermilk) and tea in ‘kulhad’ ( earthen cups) in trains .

According to Chief Commercial Manager KK Srivastava , recognising the popularity of litti-chokha, a dish made of flour and vegetables, Prasad had asked them to open stalls at railway stations.
In an article in ‘Indian Railways’ journal, he said a litti-chokha stall was started at Patna station for the first time recently.The Indian Railway Catering and Tourist Corporation (IRCTC) has been told to open such stalls at other stations also.
