Living under the shadow of rapist?s terror

A BOY allegedly took indecent pictures of his ‘girlfriend’, raped her and then resorted to blackmailing in Kalyanpur police station area. The girl’s family has lodged an FIR against the boy. A counter FIR has also been lodged with the Kalyanpur police station against her. The girl’s family members said they were being threatened with dire consequences if they did not withdraw the case.

The girl Kiran (name changed), a resident of Mirzapur, was held captive by Babloo Savita of the same locality, in February this year. All this happened while Kiran was doing M.A. course at a nearby degree college. Babloo not only raped her but also took some indecent pictures of her. After some time, he started blackmailing Kiran. He asked her to continue the relationship or else he would defame her.

The victim underwent all these abuses for more than six months but in September her father came to know about the incident. Kiran was stopped from going to the college. After this Babloo and his kin started threatening Kiran’s family members. They tried to force Kiran marry Babloo. When they resisted, Babloo along with more than a dozen supporters attacked them and warned them of terrible consequences. After this, Kiran’s father Ramvaran stopped his daughters and sons from stepping out of home. He also asked them not to discuss the matter with anyone. They started living under constant fear and did not approach the police fearing reprisal.

But their nightmare did not end here as Babloo filed a case against the girl’s family claiming Kiran to be his wife and alleging that Ramvaran and his sons were forcing her to stay at home.

Ramvaran has now sought the help of police. He has lodged an FIR against Babloo Savita and ten others for capturing, raping and blackmailing his daughter. Babloo too has lodged a counter FIR accusing Ramvaran and others of attacking, abusing and threatening him and his kin.

The police are investigating the case.
