After the Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s plan of airlifting the President from Amausi to Viraj Khand was rejected by district administration, they had no choice but to get the entire 20 kilometre stretch from Amausi to Viraj Khand ‘ready’ for the visit. The LMC officials have made two special teams to oversee the preparations.
On Wednesday, the LMC officials swung into action to welcome the President.
They removed nearly 90 encroachments. Inspectors who used to protect the encroachers till yesterday, were seen removing their encroachments.
Acting Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar himself inspected the entire route from Amausi to Viaraj Khand on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Zonal Health Officer Dr SK Tripathi and Chief Engineer SK Srivastava. On Kumar’s directives, construction material used by the contractors in the making of dividers in Amausi, on VIP Road, Jail Road and Cantt was removed. LMC trucks were seen shifting the material from the road to the inner parts of the VIP Road.
Kumar was also angry about the potholes on the route. The process of removing the speed breakers has already begun. Nearly nine speed-breakers have already been removed.
Kumar fined some shopkeepers on the VIP Road for throwing garbage on the road. The Zonal Health Officer was directed to issue challans against the erring shopkeepers. Kumar directed to cut down the bushes, which could cause a security threat on the route.
The LMC has pressed in 150 safai workers, cattle catchers, team of health officers and inspectors. These officials will continue to work till late in the night to make the route ready for the President’s visit.
