These include two clerks, a zonal officer and an assistant revenue officer. According to information, these officials were pressuring a resident of Bairagarh to pay bribe for building permission and fixing property tax.

Surprisingly, these employees did not belong to the building permission section. It is learnt that when contacted for the bribe, the complainant was going for the heart surgery of a family member in Hyderabad.

The complainant urged the employees that he would pay after returning from Hyderabad. However, the officials insisted on a bribe of Rs 10,000 immediately.

When the complainant said he could not pay in cash as he was going out of the City, employees told him to pay through cheque. After returning, a formal complaint was registered before Lokayukta .

According to BMC sources, the proposal in this regard would be sent for the approval of mayor-in-council during its next meeting. The MiC’s approval is sought as one of these officials belongs to class-two category.
