The festival - Lokrang – has roots going back to 1986 when the first efforts were made to present the rich and traditional folk arts of India in a wide spectrum to the art connoisseurs of the City.
This year, Lokrang seeks to present the art and crafts from Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand besides the colourful dances and folk music of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
Furthermore, an exhibition of a wide array of diyas (earthen lamps) from different parts of the country would be organised. About 80 craftsmen from different states would take part in the celebrations.
In an exhibition of sarees from South India, free workshops on the traditional methods of print, dye and weave would be organised.
Free workshops on terracotta and ceramics along with traditional cuisine from around the country would be added attractions.
