Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels threw hand grenades at the office of a non-governmental organisation in eastern Sri Lanka.

Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels threw hand grenades at the office of a non-governmental organisation in eastern Sri Lanka on Sunday, wounding three people including one Serbian aid worker, police and a representative for the group said.

Atis Hamid, a team worker for Non-violent peace force in Sri Lanka, said one Serbian aid worker and two passers-by were injured in the attack on the group's office in the eastern city of Trincomalee.

Hamid said he did not know the conditions of those wounded.
