STC LUCKNOW, Bhopal Juniors and Karampur Academy won their respective matches on Thursday in the All-India Ahmad Sher Khan hockey tournament being organised at SAI Centre Bishenkheri.
The success story of Lucknow continued on the fifth day of the tournament. Playing against Steel Authority of India Raurkela, the Lucknow boys were excellent in every department of the game. The fine stick work by the Lucknow team has proved that the young blood of the Country has immense talent.
Though it took 33 minutes to score the first goal of the match, the attack and counter attacks from both the teams enthralled the spectators. The splendid dribbling by Ravi Pandey in front of the goalmouth gave the first goal of the match. The first half ended with the score 1-0.
After a slow game in the first part of the match, the Lucknow boys intensified their attacks in the second half. Karan scored the second goal for Lucknow in the 51st minute. Seven minutes later, Karan scored the second goal through penalty corner.
In the second match, Bhopal Juniors registered their biggest win of the match against Chhattisgarh. It was the fourth consecutive defeat of Chhattisgarh. Bhopal won the match by 10-00. Younis of Bhopal scored his first hattrick in the match. Karampur Academy of Uttar Pradesh defeated Vidharbha XI by 2-0 in the third match of the day.
