Besides, they handed over their 21-point charter of demands, addressed to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, to district secondary education authorities. The education authorities assured the leaders that their demands would be taken up .
The teachers repeated their demand for implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations from January 1996.
They also demanded that teachers working with unaided schools should be given a reasonable salary and the government should lay down norms to ensure that schools were paying their salary as per norms.
Besides, many other problems were raised by them regarding their promotion policy, including introduction of new amendments to remove the irregularities in their promotions.
The leaders also drew the attention of the government towards corruption in the education department and demanded necessary steps.
The dharna was led by state working president of the Sangh Harish Chandra Dixit and other prominent leaders present were Dr Rama Tripathi, Ratan Kumar Awasthi, Nirmal Katiyar, Rajkumar Tripathi, Virendra Pratap Shukla and Rajesh Mohan Dwiwedi.
