The process to set up the project, which is pending before the Human Resource Ministry, is likely to start by 2011.

"The Government has not yet recognised magic as an art, though we fulfill all criteria as other recognised arts," said Jadugar Anand in Hyderabad.

"An academy of magic not only creates employment opportunities for many by producing world class magicians, but also generates awareness about the art," he said.

Anand is the president of the All India Magic Federation.. He is in the city with his son Akash to kick off the breathtaking 'Chris Angel's Challenging Escape' show on April 18.
