Magisterial probe ordered into student's death
A magisterial probe was on Tuesday ordered by the Himachal Pradesh government into the shocking death of a teenaged medical student after being allegedly ragged by his seniors who face charges of culpable homicide.
The magisterial inquiry will look in detail the cause of death of the student Aman Kachroo and also fix role and responsibility of the involved people in the unfortunate incident, Health Minister Rajeev Bindal told PTI.
Based on the report of the probe and that of autopsy of the deceased student, stern action would be taken, he said.
A new principal would also be appointed in Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, where the incident took place, replacing Suresh Sankhayan, who has offered to resign in the wake of the shocking incident, Principal Secretary, Health Deepak Sanan said.
19-year-old Kachroo, who passed out of DPS International in Delhi and was a resident of Gurgaon, had died on Sunday night in a hospital in Tanda due to severe injuries suffered allegedly during ragging by four of his seniors.
While two second year students Ajay Kumar Verma and Naveen Verma have already been arrested, police is on the look out for two absconding students--Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma-- named in the case registered under section 304 of IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) with Kangra police station, Superintendent of Police of Kangra district Atul Kumar Fulzule said.
They have been also booked under the anti-ragging ordinance.
