Mahabharata stars woo Noida for BJP

Actors Mukesh Khanna and Pankaj Dheer led the cavalcade of over 100 vehicles from the sector 18 BJP election office shorlty after noon.

Surinder Pal, who  played the role of Dronacharya, joined them on the way. Actor Suresh Oberoi had campaigned for the BJP on Saturday.

At Mamura, they addressed the public. Mukesh Khanna appealed to people to vote for “Vajpayee for stability”. “Vote for others only if you do not like stability,” was the message the entire team had for voters.

They touched Atta Crossing, Naya Bans, Harola, Jhundpura, sector 12/22 crossing, sector 21 and 25, Chhalera, Baraula,  Salarpur and culminated into a public meeting at Bhangel. BJP candidate Ashok Pradhan was campaigning in the Khurja area while wife Vimla Pradhan organised door-to-door campaigns and MLA Nawab Singh Nagar held poll meetings in interior villages.

Samajwadi Party leaders sought public support for RLD/SP candidate Ram Niwas Balmiki. The rally led by Mahanagar president Veer Singh Yadav passed through all the major sectors.

Congress candidate Devi Dayal’s wife Nina Dayal went on door-to-door campaign in Sector 21, 25, 26 and 27. She alongwith Congress workers sought public support from the residents.


Vehicles seized

The Sub-Divisional magistrate of Dabri impounded a vehicle each of BJP candidate Ashok Pradhan and Congress candidate Devi Dayal on Saturday.

The vehicles were impounded as they didn’t carry the EC label authorising the vehicle for use in elections. Eight activists were reportedly detained from outside the BJP’s election office.
