Though J&K won the toss and opted to bat first, it failed to capitalise on opportunities. Despite a first-wicket partnership of 82 runs between Bandeep Singh and Ranjeev Singh, the team collapsed for 115 runs. Ranjeev (68) and Bandeep (16) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Gajanan Bhosle and Ashish scalped four and three wickets respectively. In reply, Swapnil Gugale who had scored a century against Sikkim at the same venue, hammered an unbeaten 75. Rohit Motwani also played well and made 53 runs.

At the end of day’s play, Maharashtra had scored 156 runs for the loss of two wickets. Swapnil and Ashish were at the wicket.

Earlier, chief guest Mayor Sunil Sood was introduced to the players of both teams. BDCA secretary Dr Shafquat Mohammad Khan, Hamidullah Khan ‘Mamu’, Sajid Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
