RICH TRIBUTES were paid to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day today. At a function held at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters, Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Mahatma and showered praise on him for his exceptional leadership qualities and sacrifices made for the freedom of India.

State Congress chief Subhash Yadav, in his tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, said his principles of truth, non-violence, noble conduct and communal harmony for ensuring welfare of human race and world peace continued to be relevant and whatever divisive tendencies were seen in the country could only be cured through Gandhi’s philosophy, he said.

State Youth Congress organised a dharna at Roshanpura Square today demanding a ban on ‘terrorist’ outfits. The dharna led by State Youth Congress president Meenakshi Natrajan protested incidents of violence against Christians and other minorities in the State.

Youth Congress also began its ‘Prerna Yatra’ from today to apprise youth about the principles, life and deeds of national heroes like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and galaxy of other freedom fighters.

In Bhopal, the Yatra began from Polytechnic Square. Participants in the Yatra, later, converged at Roshanpura Square, where Youth Congress’ sit-in agitation against attacks on Christians was taking place.
