Major land scam exposed
IN A major land scam in the district, land mafia in connivance with some lekhpals, managed to get around 16.12 acre government land in their names at Jhankhandi Tukda number 1, near the engineering college at Gorakhpur-Deoria national highway. This fact was revealed in the report of the probe committee set up by district magistrate Dr Hariom to look into the complaints of irregularities in transfer of names in land records.

This fact was revealed in the report of the probe committee set up by district magistrate Dr Hariom to look into the complaints of irregularities in transfer of names in land records.
Talking to mediapersons, Dr Hariom said this report was only limited to Jharkhandi Tukda number 1 and hinted to set up a probe into the land records of Jharkhandi number 2 and 3 as well.
He said the first probe committee was constituted on January 12 and the report of the committee was likely to indict around 287 khatedars. He claimed that the district administration had rectified the land records and 16.12-acre land had been renamed in government records.
The DM issued an order making no objection certificate from SDM before transfer of name from land records mandatory.
He also awarded cheques to the beneficiaries of the farmers insurance policies. He called upon the village heads to extend support in the implementation of the government scheme in their villages.
Sources said that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had also issued an order to the district officials to probe the complaints of irregularities in registration and sale and transfer of properties at Mahadev Jharkhandi Tukda number 2 and 3.
