Ghasiram Majhi, 45, gave himself up at the police station at Sambalpur, some 300 kms from Bhubaneswar, after killing his neighbour Tapaswini Sekhardeo, 32, on Monday.

"He beheaded the woman with an axe after she allegedly quarrelled with Ghanshiram's wife over some family matter," a police official said.

After killing the woman, Ghansiram walked over three kilometres to reach the police station with the severed head. As he walked, the sight of the severed head created panic in the town.
