Sent in 14-day judicial custody on Saturday under sections 294 (obscene act) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), labourer Dharambir Kumar’s bike had hit 28-year-old Bamal, who was crossing the road on foot, near Meham Chowk.

Though both escaped unhurt, Bamal, who on her way to a training session, sought an apology from Dharambir. But an argument started, leading to a fistfight between the two, and the policemen deputed nearby detained Dharambir who allegedly hurled abuses at Bamal.

Later, Bamal gave a written complaint and a case was registered, said sub-inspector Ram Kishan posted at the Civil Lines police station.

Bamal, who was ranked fourth in the World Senior Wrestling Championship in 2005 in Hungary, has won several national medals.
