The victim, Akbar Khan, was lynched after he allegedly made obscene gestures and passed lewd remarks at a 16-year-old girl in the Noor Nagar area near Raj Nagar extension here.

Police said the incident took place near the girl’s house on Thursday. Khan often teased minor girls in the area. Two other girls have confirmed this to the police.

Police said two days ago, Khan had tried to attack the girl with acid. “On Thursday night, he eve-teased the girl near her house. Hearing her cries, the girl’s family and neighbours nabbed the man and beat him up. He was later handed over to the police,” police said. Khan was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 4am on Friday.
