Police said they received information that a body bearing head injuries was dumped in a drain near Basantpur colony under Sarai Kwaja police station. The police had already received information about a missing person who had ventured out of his house last night but did not return.

The police and the family members of the victim suspect that some people have killed him and dumped his both in the drain to make it look like an accident. The family later identified the deceased as Gulzar Sheikh, 28. The victim's body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem.

Police registered a case of murder against unknown persons and started investigations into the case.
