A software engineer who threatened to post nude pictures of his wife on the Net when she rejected his dowry demands and protested against his second marriage, has been arrested.
In a plot that bears uncanny resemblance to parts of the film Love, Sex and Dhoka, Anil Kumar (name changed) 32, living in the upscale Vaishali township of Ghaziabad district and working with a software firm in Gurgaon, married Krishna Singh (name changed) after a two-year courtship in January this year.
Two months into the marriage, his attitude changed, his wife alleged in her complaint to the police. “He started demanding dowry and beat me up badly,” she said.
She also discovered that he had married another girl in Kanpur, the town he hailed from. When she confronted him, he beat her up some more.
“He used to take nude pictures of me with his mobile phone, and make MMS clips. When I asked him about his second marriage, he threatened to post my pictures on the Internet,” Singh stated in her FIR against her husband.
She gathered her courage and despite the embarrassment involved, complained to the police. “Her husband was arrested on Sunday,” said Station Officer Inspector Rajesh Dwivedi. “He was trying to escape to Kanpur by train when he was caught.”
During questioning Kumar denied all charges. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
