An MRPF activist was allegedly gunned down by Maoists in Lahan on Friday when he was protesting the arrest of some party leaders. Enraged protestors then set on fire 14 vehicles in the area and obstructed roads for hours.
The local administration has clamped a ten-hour curfew to bring the situation under control.
MRPF activists were demanding the release of their leaders including president Upendra Yadav.
The forum is opposing the promulgation of the Interim Constitution that would pave way for the rebels to join the government.
