The 30-share BSE index rose 1.8 percent on Monday to 10,534.87 points, its strongest close since November 10, as stocks rallied across the world on hopes the worst of economic downturn had passed.
The yield on the benchmark 2019 bond ended at 7.00 percent, above Thursday's close of 6.96 percent.
The partially convertible rupee closed at 50.04/05 per dollar, 0.6 percent stronger than its Thursday's close of 50.33/35.
Markets were also closed last Friday for a holiday.
