Former world number one Martina Hingis of Switzerland returned to the top 10 in women's tennis on Tuesday since her comeback to the game.

In the latest rankings issued by the WTA, the Hingis climbed from 12th to ninth place with 1,681 points despite losing the Montreal final the previous night to Serbia's Ana Ivanovic.
Hingis made her full comeback to professional tennis in January after a three-year absence due to nagging ankle problems. She was the year-ending world number 1 in 1997, 1999 and 2000.
Amelie Mauresmo of France remained first with 3,558 points, ahead of Belgians Kim Clijsters (3,060) and Justine Henin-Hardenne (2,883).
