Mashelkar opens HEG R&D Centre

A HI-TECH Research and Development Centre of HEG Limited was inaugurated here on Friday by Dr RA Mashelkar, Director General, CSIR and Secretary to Government of India, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

A HI-TECH Research and Development Centre of HEG Limited was inaugurated here on Friday by Dr RA Mashelkar, Director General, CSIR and Secretary to Government of India, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

In his address, Dr Mashelkar said the growth of country would be minimal without innovation. He stressed on the need for constant innovation. He lauded the initiatives taken by HEG group chairman LN Jhunjhunwala for creating an R&D facility in carbon/graphite.

The HEG is a leading graphite electrodes manufacturing company and has set up the state-of-the-art R&D Centre to further work in the areas of application of carbon and undertaking the cutting-edge research.

The team of scientists at the centre is engaged in working on futuristic projects like carbon nanotubes, carbon for energy management and thermal management.

Earlier, Chairman and MD Ravi Jhunjhunwala welcomed Dr Mashelkar and other distinguished scientists of the country. A presentation about the growth of the company was made on the occasion. Executive Director and CEO RC Surana was also present.
