As the Union Government refused to budge on OBC reservation issue over 450 students of Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad University, degree and inter colleges took out a rally under the banner of 'Youth For Equality' on Monday.

A large number of students of engineering and management also participated in the rally which was led by junior doctors association office-bearers.
The girls and boys shouted angry slogans against Union HRD Minister, Arjun Singh and threatened to further intensify their stir. The rally passed through CMP degree college, Hanuman temple, Subhash Crossing and concluded at the SRN Hospital. The students also blocked the road for about 15 minutes near Subhash crossing to make people understand the demerits of quota system.
Unaffected by the gruelling heat they also gave short speeches on the evils of quota system near Subhash crossing.
The anti-riot vehicle (bajra) remained deputed near Subhas crossing to control any untoward situation during the rally.
However, angry over the reports of declaring the strike of medicos illegal under ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act) in Lucknow the students also decided to observe indefinite hunger strike.
"The government would be forced to withdraw ESMA as it would have no effect on the ongoing nation-wide agitation against OBC quota.
Our agitation would further intensify because the government has not shown any sign of conceding our demands.
We are also planning to go on an indefinite hunger strike in support of the doctors who were observing hunger strike for the last eight days in Delhi," said Dr Sunil Kumar Shukla.
JDA president Dr Neeraj said they have received an overwhelming support from the students of high school and inter colleges, Allahabad University and degree colleges in their agitation against the OBC quota. Still general public need to be mobilised to support the issue, he added.
