MCD sacks 180 fraudulent employees

In the wake of a recruitment scam in the Health Department of the MCD, the civic body on Monday sacked 180 employees who had secured jobs through fraudulent means.

The Health Department of MCD has terminated the services of 180 class IV employees as they had managed to get the jobs through fraudulent means and by forging documents, the civic body said in a release.

The sacked employees had got absorbed as permanent workers in connivance with with MCD employees, it said.

"The matter is being further investigated and more such cases of fake appointment are likely to surface," said Additional Commissioner (Health) Manoj Parida.

He said as and when more such cases came to light, the employees in question will be sacked.

Efforts are being made to recover the payments received by the MCD employees involved in the scam and to prosecute them.

The matter had first come to light several months back when it was raised in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the MCD.

An FIR was registered and police began investigating the case.

The Upper Divisional Clerk in the Health Department RC Sharma, who is alleged to be the kingpin in the recruitment scam, has been absconding for the last seven months since the matter surfaced.
