In a boost to e-governance, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), will formally launch its page on Facebook and Twitter from next week.

This will provide a platform to residents where they can access the civic body’s website. Though the MCG had recently launched its pages on the social networking sites on a trial basis, the same will be formally launched after MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal’s approval.
“We are quite hopeful that the pages will make a positive impact on viewers and address their grievances as well as bring us their valuable suggestions,” said the MCG commissioner.
“Our focus is to develop a platform which will not only give people information but where they will be able to voice their ideas, opinions and concerns,” said Rita Dalal, IT manager, MCG. The pages have been divided into sections which will provide residents information on the MCG, its services, online option to file their grievances and RTI applications, information on the Citizen Charter and service violations, information on polls, besides phone numbers of local councillors.
“Residents can also post photographs and comments on the page's wall,” said Nisha Singh, who forwarded the concept to the MCG commissioner.
With this, the civic body aims to centralise information flow and co-ordinate with other agencies.
The Facebook page can be accessed at https://www.facebook.com/mcgurgaon and the twitter page at http://twitter.com/mcgurgaon.
