In an official communiqué released on Thursday Dr Tripathi said the Locking Compression Plate (LCP) was one of the latest feathers in the cap of orthopaedic surgery. The technique was based on the philosophy of minimal invasive surgery, biological and stable fixations of joints after fracture and serious accidents. This fixation device could revolutionise the way orthopaedic trauma cases were managed in the past, he added.

“Accidents and injuries leading to fractures are as old as mankind. With modern and fast life styles, rate of accidents are increasing day by day and on the other hand, there is a great demand by society to cure them as promptly as possible. Therefore, it is the moral responsibility of trauma surgeons to manage these injuries at the earliest through latest techniques,” he said.

Tripathi said in the early years of development, the orthopaedic injuries were managed by different kinds of splints/plasters and there were lots of osteopaths and quacks to provide this kind of treatment.
