Mehbooba's rally attacked; one killed, 30 injured

Militants launched grenades on PDP leader's rally in Kulgam segment, minutes after she left the venue, killing one and injuring 30 others.

Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party's nominee for the Anantnag-Pulwama parliamentary seat, survived an attempt on her life by militants in the Kulgam segment of this south Kashmir constituency on Sunday.

At least one person was killed and around 30 people injured in the incident.

This was third attempt on her life in the past month.

Sources said militants lobbed a grenade at Mehbooba's motorcade 87 km south of Srinagar, soon after she concluded an election meeting and was about to leave Khool village. The grenade hit one of the cars in the motorcade.
