Mild earthquake felt in parts of Pakistan

An official said that the tremor was an aftershock of last year's magnitude-7.6 quake that killed over 80,000.

An slight earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was felt in the capital city and the adjoining areas on Wednesday.

There are no reports of injuries or damage, an official said.

The quake originated in the Hazara division, a rugged region about 80 kilometres north of the capital Islamabad, said Mohammed Saeed Bhatti, a deputy director at the Meteorological Department.

He said that the tremor rattled Islamabad and some northwestern cities like Mansehra, Balakot and Abbottabad.

Bhatti added that the tremor was an aftershock of last year's magnitude-7.6 quake that devastated parts of northwestern Pakistan and Kashmir, killing about 80,000 people and rendering millions homeless.
